Tips to Help You Slow Down, Unwind, and Refresh
Summer should be a time of sitting back and taking it easy. But with the world’s current situation, it can be difficult to have an ‘easy’ day. With that said, a little R&R should be more than welcomed especially in this climate and for your mental health.
Here are some ways to squeeze some guilt-free relaxation into your week.
1. Plan a day off.
If life has been a bit too overwhelming and you’re losing sleep due to stress, try to plan a day off just for you. When preparing a relaxation day, clear your schedule completely; make it a day where nothing will be standing in your way. Then, choose how you’d like to spend the day. Shopping? Baking a new dessert? Doing absolutely nothing but binge-watching Netflix and napping? It doesn’t matter! This day is yours and you deserve to do exactly what you want.
2. Soak the worries away.
Whether it’s after a long week or the day before a long week, pamper yourself with a spa day — and go all out! Light some candles and use that expensive bath bomb you’ve been saving for months. Choose an exfoliating sugar scrub and a hydrating face mask and let the worries soak away in the bath. Finish the night by rewarding yourself with an at-home manicure and your favorite movie playing in the background.
3. Indulge in your favorites.
Perhaps the best way to relax is with your favorite foods and TV shows. Try planning a movie night with your favorite people or make it a solo date. Pick up your favorite sweet/salty treats and wine/beverage. Make it a night where nothing can come between you, that tub of ice cream, and The Office (or whatever your favorite TV show/movie is). Or, have a quiet night and curl up with your favorite read and hot tea.
4. Find other ways to pamper yourself.
Perhaps the relaxation you’re missing is a hobby or an old hobby. There are plenty of ways you can relax when you enjoy what you do — perhaps it’s picking up the paintbrush again or it’s trying out a new workout routine, like yoga. Maybe the smallest gesture can brighten your day, like sending yourself flowers or ordering food from an expensive restaurant. Or maybe pampering and relaxation is spending time with the ones closest to you. The best part is you get to choose what is best for you.
Everyone deserves some time for relaxation, but we know it can sometimes be hard to find tranquility at home. We hope these tips can help you unwind at home and we urge you to take time off to reset and relax.
