(Elizabeth, West Virginia) August 29, 2018 – Coplin Health Systems and its Board are announcing that, effective September 7th, Derek Snyder, its CEO is departing the organization.

In discussing his departure, Snyder states, “It has been an honor to serve the communities of Coplin Health Systems and to work with an incredible and caring staff. Our organization provides a vital service and it is positioned well to continue providing healthcare to Wood, Wirt, Jackson and Meigs counties.” Snyder will be transitioning to a new role with Mountain River Physical Therapy as Vice President for Business Development.

During his tenure, he hired and placed an exemplary management team that has been recognized throughout West Virginia for work in mobile dental programs, emergency preparedness, and other areas of healthcare.

Over the past three years Coplin Health Systems has expanded the number of sites it operates; increased the number of physicians and mid-level providers; added pharmacy access within all of its main sites; added behavioral health services; and has extended acute care services in Jackson County.

Under Snyder’s leadership, Coplin Health Systems has grown significantly and continues to increase its impact. Snyder has been actively involved in West Virginia’s Primary Care Association, which is navigating changes in healthcare to prepare for the future. His work with this organization has been used to prepare Coplin for the changing landscape of healthcare.

David Schenkelberg, Board President of Coplin Health Systems, expressed gratitude, “We, as a board, would like to thank Derek Snyder for the service he has given to Coplin Health Systems over the past 3 years. While we understand this transition is best for Derek and his family, Derek has been a tremendous asset to our organization and will be missed. As we have been preparing for this transition, we are grateful for the strong leadership team he has in place and have confidence that they are fully capable of managing services to provide continuity of care for our patients during this transition.” Coplin Health Systems will begin a national search for a replacement. The Board has named the current COO, Rob Dudley, as the interim CEO. Dudley has over 16 years of management and leadership experience and has served as COO for Coplin since 2016.
