Coplin Health Systems is pleased to welcome family nurse practitioner Sarah Settle (West), MSN, APRN, FNP-C, to its medical team. Sarah will serve as a Float Provider in Wirt and Wood counties, focusing on walk-in and primary care services for individuals and families of all ages.
We sat down with Sarah to discover what drove her to become a nurse practitioner and what she looks forward to in her new role with Coplin Health Systems.
Question: What drove you to choose this career path?
Sarah Settle (West): I chose this career path because of my mother. She was a nurse and thoroughly enjoyed helping others. She encouraged me to pursue the same profession.
Q: Can you tell us about your education?
SSW: I earned my Master of Science degree in Nursing from Walsh University in Canton, Ohio, in May 2023. I am board-certified as an advanced practice registered nurse, specializing as a family nurse practitioner, and licensed in Ohio and West Virginia. Additionally, I am a 2019 graduate of Marshall University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Q: Can you share some of your past medical experience?
SSW: I worked as a registered nurse in various departments, including the emergency department. I also have experience with triage and emergency room procedures and served as a full-time charge nurse.
Q: What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
SSW: The most enjoyable part of being a nurse practitioner at Coplin Health Systems is developing relationships with my patients and their families, helping them improve their overall health.
Q: When not at Coplin, what do you enjoy doing?
SSW: I enjoy spending time outside with my family and my dog. We are Marshall University football fans and love attending the games whenever possible.
Q: What are your professional goals and interests? (i.e., immunizations, diabetes, healthy eating, etc.)
SSW: One of my goals as a nurse practitioner is to educate my patients about the importance of preventive health screenings and practices in an easy, fun, and understandable manner.
Q: What might surprise people to know about you?
SSW: I love living in an area with four seasons. I decorate my home for every season, especially in the fall.
Q: Tell us about your personally.
