Q&A with Coplin Health Systems’ Newest Pediatric Primary Care Provider Abby Winters, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

At Coplin Health Systems, we’re committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care for families in our community. Abby Winters, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, brings her passion for pediatric primary care to Coplin, focusing on preventive health, immunizations, and fostering positive patient experiences. Get to know her in this Q&A!

Q: What services do you provide at Coplin?

Abby Winters: I specialize in pediatric primary care, helping children stay healthy through preventive screenings, immunizations, and overall wellness care.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?

AW: My senior year of high school, my grandpa had a double lung transplant. That experience sparked my interest in healthcare and inspired me to become a nurse and eventually a nurse practitioner.

Q: What’s something you do that people might not realize?

AW: I spend a lot of time staying up to date with the latest medical guidelines and recommendations. I read a lot in my free time to make sure I’m always providing the best care possible.

Q: What’s one piece of health advice you’d give patients?

AW: Move your body! Doing something active every day benefits both your physical and mental health.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

AW: I love building trust with pediatric patients and their families, celebrating milestones, and creating a positive patient experience.

Q: What do you enjoy outside of work?

AW: I love watching my husband coach basketball, spending time with my family and our pup, exercising, and baking sourdough bread!

Q: What might surprise people to know about you?

AW: I started my nursing career in advanced adult care before transitioning to pediatrics. I also earned my master’s degree while working in inpatient pediatrics and loved every minute of it!

Q: What are your professional interests?

AW: Preventive care, immunizations, health screenings, healthy eating, and exercise.

Q: Any fun facts about yourself?

AW: I played college volleyball for four years at Wheeling! It taught me so much about discipline, time management, and teamwork.

Q: What do you look forward to most in your role?

AW: Making a positive impact on children’s health and celebrating their growth and development.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

AW: I’ve been married for two years to my best friend, Mark. He’s a middle school principal and varsity basketball coach. We have a spoiled little Maltese-Poodle named Winston. I grew up in Marietta and attended Parkersburg Catholic High School. I’m extremely family-oriented and love spending time with my parents, brother, grandparents, and the rest of my family. Before Coplin, I worked for three years in inpatient pediatrics, and I’m excited for this new opportunity!
