Q&A with Coplin Health Systems’ Newest Licensed Professional Counselor, Tina Creighton

Tina Creighton, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Coplin Health Systems, is deeply committed to helping people navigate their mental health challenges. With a passion for behavioral healthcare, Tina offers her clients a safe, supportive environment where they can work through life’s obstacles and begin their journey toward wellness.

Outside of her role at Coplin, Tina is a dedicated wife, mother, and active community member. Her personal experiences enrich her professional approach, allowing her to connect with clients on a deeper level. We sat down with Tina to learn more about her motivations, her approach to counseling, and her vision for mental healthcare.

Question: What led you to pursue a career in behavioral healthcare?
Tina Creighton: My drive to help people has always been my guiding force. It’s incredibly fulfilling to support clients on their journey to better mental health.

Q: What types of services do you provide at Coplin Health Systems?
TC: I focus on behavioral health, offering counseling and support to those who are struggling with various emotional and mental health issues. My goal is to provide a safe and compassionate space for people to work through their challenges and begin healing.

Q: What do you do beyond what most people might see?
TC: My dedication to my clients doesn’t end at the office. I continuously seek ways to improve my understanding of mental health and stay updated with the latest therapeutic techniques.

Q: If you could share one piece of health advice, what would it be?
TC: Don’t ignore your physical health if you want to feel your best mentally. Physical well-being and mental health are interconnected; you can’t expect one to flourish without caring for the other.

Q: What are some common misconceptions about your job?
TC: Many people think that talking to a counselor is like chatting with a friend, or that they don’t need professional mental healthcare. In reality, licensed counselors provide structured, evidence-based techniques and guidance that go far beyond casual conversations.

Q: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?
TC: Watching clients grow and achieve higher levels of functioning is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I played a role in someone’s journey to mental wellness and self-improvement is a joy I never take for granted.

Additionally, establishing meaningful relationships and being part of an integrated care team are two of my favorite aspects. I find it incredibly fulfilling to work collaboratively with other professionals to provide comprehensive care for our clients.

Q: What might surprise people to know about you?
TC: I enjoy hunting! It’s a bit unexpected for someone in my field, but I find it both challenging and refreshing.

Q: What community or volunteer work do you participate in?
TC: I’m very active in my local church and often take part in fundraising events for schools and other community initiatives. Supporting those in need is close to my heart, both professionally and personally.

Q: What are your professional interests?
TC: I’m passionate about trauma treatment, and I’m currently working towards certification in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I’m also keen on incorporating play therapy techniques, as I believe they can be immensely helpful for clients.

Q: Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
TC: I’m the youngest of five children. Growing up with a big family taught me the value of empathy and understanding, which I bring into my work every day.

Q: When you’re not at Coplin, what do you enjoy doing?
TC: I love spending time outdoors, especially with my husband, Corey, and our three beautiful children—Eden, Evany, and Justice. Family time recharges me and reminds me of the joy that life offers.

Q: Could you tell us a bit about your family and your work with special needs?
TC: I’ve been married to Corey for ten years, and together, we have three children. Two of them have special needs, which has deepened my understanding and empathy for families facing similar challenges. I specialize in working with children and adults with emotional and behavioral needs, including ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, and personality disorders. My work is not just a career—it’s a mission to provide the kind of support I wish every family could have.
