More than 140 people attended the Coplin Neighborhood Launch Event of the Mobile Health Unit (MHU) on Thursday, April 30, at Homecrest Manor in Parkersburg. The free event served as an introduction to the MHUs and their provided services, including tours for attendees. Families with elementary school-aged children were also provided a free copy of the children’s book “Going For A Checkup: A trip to Coplin’s Mobile Health Unit.”
Parkersburg Housing Authority served as a key project partner in bringing this event to life, and the Sisters of St. Joseph Health & Wellness Foundation provided essential funding support to make it possible. We are deeply grateful to both organizations and their teams, and we look forward to continuing our work together on future initiatives.
Homecrest Manor was chosen as the location for this inaugural event to foster a partnership in the area as part of our mission to have quality healthcare in our local communities.
“We are truly looking forward to being part of the Homecrest Manor and surrounding community,” said Sarah Casseday, Director of Behavioral Health for CHS. “We want to bring quality primary care and behavioral healthcare services, as well as services that are informed by the residents who know their needs best. We are excited to partner in this way and are looking forward with excitement towards the future.”
The mobile units bring healthcare services directly into the communities where they are needed most. Each unit is equipped to manage multiple services, including routine primary care appointments, women’s health services, sports/work physicals, basic dental exams, behavioral health screenings, and many more.
You can read the full list of services available and make an appointment here.
This event was a kickoff to a larger partnership with the overall community. Ongoing mobile health unit visits are scheduled throughout the summer to provide primary care and behavioral health visits, along with educational activities and classes. The mobile health unit visits will continue twice each month to Homecrest Manor, along with weekly visits in the summer by the Behavioral Health team.
