Q: What drove you to choose this career path?
Scott Price: I’ve always wanted to help people and contribute to a healthier community. Pharmacy allows me to make a real difference in patients’ lives.
Q: What services do you provide at Coplin?
SP: I work in the pharmacy, providing pharmacy services, helping patients access medications, and ensuring they receive the best possible care.
Q: What are some tasks you handle that people might not realize?
SP: I work with a 340B consultant to expand medication access through contract pharmacies. I also conduct compliance checks and audits and attend webinars to stay updated on industry changes.
Q: What’s one piece of health advice you’d give patients?
SP: Limit sugars and sweets. It makes a big difference in overall health!
Q: What’s a common misconception about your job?
SP: Many think pharmacists just count pills and fill prescriptions, but there’s much more to it. We also evaluate medication safety, assist with dosing, and educate patients.
Q: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?
SP: Getting to know my patients. The better I understand their health needs, the better I can help them.
Q: What do you enjoy outside of work?
SP: I love spending time with my family and attending WVU football, basketball, and baseball games. I also play Fantasy Baseball and Football.
Q: How are you involved in the community?
SP: I coach youth basketball and soccer, volunteer at Ravenswood High School athletic events, and participate in the Jackson County Anti-Drug Coalition.
Q: What might surprise people to know about you?
SP: At sporting events, I am often the loudest person in the gym.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
SP: Helping patients get the medications they need, especially those who couldn’t afford them without the 340B program.
Q: What’s something surprising about you?
SP: If I hadn’t become a pharmacist, I would have been a meteorologist!
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
SP: I was born and raised in Jackson County and graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1998. I’ve been married to my wife, Tshanina, for 19 years, and we have three kids: Kadi (18), Ayden (11), and Peyton (10).
